Good Time Charlie`s Bar and Grill in San Antonio

We love this place, always friendly and delicious. Nachos are to die for. Bacon cheese burger yummo to the max. Mmm good. What wonderful place with wonderful people.

Cheeseburger was absolutely delicious and their streamed broccoli was perfectly done! Lightly steamed and not soaked in butter. Our waitress was excellent and even though we sat in the sunroom the air was nice and cool (a must with 100° temps outside).Definitely going back to try the Patty Melt next!

I had a chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans with a sweet tea. I thought everything was really good and I would come back again.

Food and employees were great, but was not what I expected. From what I had seen in their photos, it looked alot smaller.

The staff are very friendly, the margaritas are delicious, they chicken fried steak was delicious, reminded of the good Ol high school days, when I first moved to Texas and tried it. Love the gravy that tops off the chicken fried steak. It wasn’t busy around the time I went, on a Thursday, around 9ish. The place doesn’t look like it was a lot of seating, so I’m sure they get pretty full fast. But overall it was good, my girlfriend though it was ok, but who knows. I really haven’t had much of this entree lately, so it was the best I’ve tried in a while. Thanks good time Charlie’s for a good meal, might come back to try the burger one day as well!

The plates are big, the prices are affordable and they taste like heaven. My husband loves coming here because this place have been there fir long time. I love the kid menu its really good kind of expensive but worthy. Good customer service. The only thing I don't like are the greaters on the door. They are rude, you won't feel welcome.

Just moved into the area recently and thought I would give this place a try. First time I ordered a club sandwich and the bread was so greasy and soggy that I couldn't even eat the sandwich. Just today I thought I would give it another try because restaurants can have bad days. Ordered some nachos and it was literally just a corn tortilla (uncooked) with beans and cheese on it cut into four pieces. They weren't even chips and I don't recall ever ordering nachos from somewhere and being able to fold them. There food is not good and very sloppy.

Went during the quarantine. Call my order in and it was ready when we got there! It was still hot, and smelled delicious!!! The Hamburger Steak was cooked perfectly!!! Lots of grilled onions, green beans and savory mashed potatoes, along with Texas Toast!!! My stomach was doing the happy food dance!!! I highly recommend it!!!

This place is awesome! Food is truly old fashioned and the servings enormous!! Our server was so courteous and helpful!!

If you're looking for great burgers and great friendly service.... Good Time Charlies is the place to go...Burgers are delicious and very well worth the price....Chicken fried steak is buy far the best I've had... my dilemma with this place is...when I order the chicken fried steak....I see the cheeseburger and immediately want one... vice versa when it comes to the cheeseburger and chicken fried steak....also get an order of onion rings with some ranch...great appetizer to start off with..

3 major issues on my visit. First I substituted a salad for sides. I was amazed to see a fresh hot crispy tender chicken fried steak thrown on my salad🤨. My salad should have been in a separate bowl or plate. So the bottom of my chicken fried steak was soggy. Next I found a hair in my food. I didn't make a big fuss cause my family asked me not to. The wait staff did notice and offered to give me another plate. I declined. Then she offered a dessert which I took🤗 but I couldn't finish eating it since the ice cream used had coconut in it and I'm allergic to coconut.Its usually a really great experience but this visit was not. I left sad, hungry, and itching with throat closing and welts forming. Had to stop and get benadryl on my way home.I'm just glad the I didn't have to go to the emergency room. My family had no issues with their food and the chili queso fries were awesome.

Ate there today and would suggest staff work on their disinfecting techniques. We watched as one table had 3 separate parties sit at and not once did the staff disinfect the table. Another customer told the staff to "mark the table not in use" when a customer leaves so that table could be cleaned, but this went to deaf ears. Not all staff wear masks including the cook. You order at the bar and then they have to figure out where you are sitting, our drinks were brought to a different table along with our meals. We won't be back until the disinfecting improves.

This is my second time at good time Charlie’s i love the food its delicious however this second time when the waitress brought out the silverware a roach crawled out of it. We of course got the food on the house and thats fine but i really hope the owner or management is taking care of this problem

First time here. Food was good. Couldn't eat it all. Didn't care for the mashed potatoes. Absolutely tasteless. Rest was great. Gravy on chicken fried steak was different. Creamy but with a cheesy flavor.

Great prices, nice variety of American food. I had the grilled chicken sandwich. It was both affordable and tasty. I would recommend. Plenty of parking, too!

Decent burger cooked to medium. Chicken fingers were amazing. 4 stars because the banana split pie needed less banana and more split

There is a variety of food to select from, the portion sizes are great and the staff is very attentive; the quality of the food is delicious with a down home taste!😋😁

A nice find here on Broadway. The Irish fries were really good, tons of bacon on them!! The chicken fried steak and chicken fingers were both great. The warm pecan pie and Texas sheet cake were truly outstanding. Oh and I forgot to mention the beer. I've had a beer or two in my day and this was a really good. Super cold, the frosted mug was nice, and the chunk on lime just hit the spot. Our waitress was outstanding!!

1st time there. Food was very good. Also they are very reasonable in price. I will go again when I'm back in San Antonio Texas.

Visited this restaurant the other day. Everything we ordered was so yummy. The chicken fried steak, onion rings and fried mushrooms were all served nice and hot!

Garlic cilantro chicken was tough and the raw garlic was bitter. Mashed potatoes bland and corn was uneventful. Enchiladas salty. Not expensive but not great. However the onion rings at the next table looked good.

Disappointed with the chicken fried steak. Crust was good, the meat was not very tasty. It was served almost instantly which makes me think it was made ahead and re-warmed.

Everything was going fine food was all right not too bad until the end of the night we paid our tab and then I noticed it was a bug I’m guessing it’s a fly hope it’s not a roach was in my team told her because if she’s pretty much seen it but didn’t offer anything in return for a fly or bug in my tea paid our bill and left probably when I go back!!!

Kristin is the greatest server! Fun times were had with her.

Ordered fried mushrooms and chicken fried steak. The mushrooms had too much breading and were hard. The chicken fried steak separated from the breading after one cut with a fork and knife. Not a bad atmosphere but hope to see improvement with the food.

My family and I went today driving 30 minutes after seeing the commercials for this place for weeks. When we go there we grabbed menus and took a seat. A lady came up to us and took our drink order and then never came back. I have worked in the restaurant business as a server for 10 years now so I understand what it's like to be busy but it wasnt busy at all. Our server was just standing around. We tried to wave her over and she never came over. We left after sitting for a total of 20 minutes with no real service. My family and I will not be going back and we were really excited to try this place for the first time.

Tried the famous steak con Queso and it was tender and delicious, although not as plentiful as the plate on their commercial. Wife had catfish sandwich and was also pleased. Tables were further apart for social distancing and we were served quick!

A-MAZING!! We were in San Antonio for our anniversary, stopped here for lunch. I had the queso steak, perfectly cooked, seasoned and tender! My husband had the chicken fried steak, and it was great! Friendly staff, fast service! I Highly recommend!!

Awesomely great food! Service could've better than having the waitress wipe off the crumbs of the table with her bare hand, in front of me. I'm guessing they are in need of a bus boy or dont want to hire one. We will probably stick to the take out from now on. Other than that, the veggies were amazingly fresh & beautiful. Drinks were plentiful & cold. Parking has improved, as they've paved the lot now.

Hadn't been here for almost 25 years so we decided to stop after a day at the zoo. The onion rings are good. I hit the Charlie's chicken. Chicken breasts with tomatoes, peppers and onions. Served with mashed potatoes and green beans. It was OK. The chicken was dry and everything needed seasoning, even some salt would have helped. The service was really good though.

Service was better than the food....it looked great but the flavor was bland..it would've been better if they seasoned the meat before breading the chicken fried steak

Excellent service. Excellent delicious tender tasty food. Onion rings were the best ever. Better than Sonic and better than Jim's Coffee Shop! Eve & Jennifer were very polite, friendly, professional yet going out of their way in checking to make sure our food orders were on point. We will definitely return to this establishment. Kinda pricy but delicious food. Regardless what you order on their menu.

Looking for something different I stumbled upon this Great place. The Food WAS DELICIOUS and the servings is INSANELY a steal on a Customer's part. Our waitress was so nice and friendly and Fast. I can't wait to go back I'm craving their Grilled chicken salad Sooooo bad. They have the main area to eat or you can sit in the sun room and enjoy the Vitamin D. Regardless you won't be disappointed.

Went in for a quick beer. Great service. Have to go back when I more time to enjoy a full meal.

Great service and the chicken fried steak was delicious. They have all the tables spaced out for social distancing and cleaned the table before we sat down. I was pleased.

I have been going to this restaurant for many years and had great service, but on Wednesday June 17, 2020 at approximately 4PM was totally poor service. The sign inside the said seat yourself, so we did. Absolutely no one greeted us as we walked in as in the past you always get greeted. We picked a table, sat their for half an hour, and got no service. It seemed if we were advisable as everyone else was getting service. We finally got up and left and the waitress said "thanks for coming and hope to see y'all again". We don't know if the restaurant was under staffed due to covid-19 or we were just simply ignored. We are planning to wait a couple of months to try again, but if this poor service happens again, we will never go back.

Our hotel recommended them and we were wowed by our meals. My cilantro chicken salad was delicious and my husband enjoyed his Monterrey Jack chicken sandwich. Esmeralda our server was awesome and so were the bussers. The pecan pie a la mode was a great ending to our meal. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in San Antonio!

Don't get me wrong its good but idk what happened to the steak and cheese the portioning is way smaller than before

As always, the food was really good. But this service was well below par. The waitress would say ”got it” and I would repeat it and she say would say ”got it” and when the order got to the table, she didn't get it.

Chicken fried steak was good with dry mashed potatoes. Green beans tasted canned without any season.

Food was good, however I recommend the waitress take some Customer Services Courses!

I just wanted to say that the food was excellent, we had a real good waitress, I'm sorry, I didn't get her name. We went during lunch today. Monday, June 22nd, but we went during lunch, and I know it was busy, our waitress was pretty busy, so we ask the other waitress as she was walking by, and we asked her, we could have a to go box, but she was very rude, and she told me to get it myself, I thought that maybe she would help her other waitress friend, but I guess she didn't want to, I'm so sorry to see this, especially during this time with Colvin 19, I think people should stick together and help one another.
